Women have strong feelings about their breasts and the way they look. It’s common to want bigger, smaller or perkier breasts — so common, in fact, that breast surgery is among the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures performed today.
Women seeking breast surgery in Oakville, Burlington, Hamilton or the surrounding Ontario areas trust Dr. Douglas Grace and Dr. Tutino. A trained and experienced surgeon, Dr. Grace uses safe, effective surgical techniques and innovative technology to produce beautiful and natural-looking results.
During your initial consultation, Dr. Grace or Dr. Tutino will take the time to listen to your concerns and provide honest recommendations for improving your breast size and shape. Throughout your surgical experience, our entire team will deliver exceptional and compassionate patient care and follow-up. When you work with Dr. Grace and Dr. Tutino, you can be assured that you are in talented and capable hands.
Your Personalized Breast Surgery Plan
Dr. Grace tailors your breast surgery plan to your unique concerns. If you are dissatisfied with small or asymmetrical breasts, he can enhance their size and shape with breast implants. Alternatively, if you think your breasts are too large for your frame, and they cause you physical or psychological pain, Dr. Grace can reduce their size and bring them into better proportion with the rest of your body. Or, if you are embarrassed by sagging breasts and downward-pointing nipples, Dr. Grace can perform a breast lift to reposition your breasts higher on your chest and correct your nipples.
If Dr. Grace and Dr. Tutino feel it would be beneficial, they can combine a breast augmentation with a lift, or breast lift.
What to Expect On the Day of Surgery
Your breast surgery experience will depend on the planned procedure and approach that Dr. Grace and Dr. Tutino elect. For example, if you undergo combination breast augmentation and lift, your surgery will be longer and more invasive than breast augmentation alone.
You will feel very informed going into surgery. Dr. Grace or Dr. Tutino will give you a comprehensive understanding of the procedure and what you can expect. He will also provide detailed post-operative instructions for your recovery.
Breast surgery is performed on an outpatient basis, so you will return home the day of your procedure. Anesthesia medications will be administered for your comfort. Dr. Grace or Dr. Tutino will begin by making the surgical incisions in the pre-determined location (usually around the areola and breast crease). Through the incisions, he will make the necessary surgical modifications: placing implants, removing excess tissue/fat or reshaping the breast mound higher on the chest. When the doctors are finished, they will close the incisions with sutures and bandage the breasts.
Recovering from Breast Surgery
Breast surgery recovery varies by patient. In general, most patients take about a week off from work and their normal routine.
For the first few days, the breasts may be swollen, tender, bruised or sore, but these side effects subside with time. Dr. Grace or Dr. Tutino will prescribe oral medications to alleviate any discomfort. You will need to rest and relax as much as possible and abstain from any strenuous activity and exercise.
Dr. Grace or Dr. Tutino will schedule several follow-up visits to check your healing progress and answer your questions.
Breast Surgery Results
After you’ve recovered from surgery and your swelling has subsided, you can begin to enjoy your results. Depending on the procedure that the doctors performed, your breasts may be fuller and more voluptuous, thanks to implants. Or, your previously oversized breasts may be smaller and more proportional to your frame. Once-saggy breasts will look pert and youthful on your chest, and your nipples will look perky.
It’s important to remember that breast surgery incisions may cause scarring. However, Dr. Grace or Dr. Tutino will strategically place the surgical incisions in areas of the breasts that can be concealed by clothing or swimwear. Scars will naturally fade until they are barely visible. Also, the doctors can recommend products to use to minimize scarring.
