Introducing the Alumier Light Peel: The Only Chemical Peel with No Downtime
Chemical peels have been a skincare staple for many years, thanks to their ability to regenerate the skin affordably and effectively. Unlike most noninvasive skin rejuvenation procedures, however, chemical peels traditionally required some “downtime.” While chemical peel recovery is usually not very painful (in fact, many surface-layer peels are entirely painless), it’s not something most of us want to share with the world. The redness, cracking, and peeling that occurs for one to two weeks after having a conventional chemical peel can be unsightly and embarrassing, even if it doesn’t hurt that much.
Fortunately, the new Light Peel (also known as the Renew 30) by Alumier aims to change all of this. To create the Alumier Light Peel, Alumier MD went right back to the origins of chemical peeling. They created a revolutionary peel serum that contains just lactic acid, the same gentle yet effective ingredient Cleopatra herself relied on (in the form of sour milk) to keep her skin looking fresh and youthful. Only unlike sour milk, the Light Peel is strong enough to create striking, visible results; it contains 30 percent lactic acid, achieving just the right balance between power and gentleness.
The Alumier Light Peel works like any other chemical peel (by increasing the rate of skin cell turnover and collagen production), only it does so with the promise of absolutely no downtime. For this reason, many of our patients refer to the Light Peel as their “Red Carpet Peel.” Unlike most chemical peels, this peel is ideally administered the day before a big event—or even on the same day. It won’t cause redness, blistering, burning sensations, or peeling. Instead, it will just leave your skin looking and feeling radiant.
How Does the Alumier Light Peel Work?
The Alumier Light Peel is essentially a very effective exfoliant. The lactic acid in the Light Peel dissolves excess oil and dead skin cells, leaving pores completely unclogged and free to breathe. Because lactic acid also gently removes damaged skin cells from the epidermis (the uppermost layer of the dermis), it can treat the signs of aging and many common skin blemishes. Finally, like all chemical peels, the Alumier Light Peel increases the production of collagen and elastin, making the skin smoother, stronger, and more voluminous. As such, the Light Peel can reduce the appearance of the following skin problems:
- Acne and acne scars: In addition to unclogging pores (and therefore preventing bacterial buildup inside them), the Light Peel reduces the bacteria count on the skin. It can also treat redness and discoloration and shrink large pores.
- Rough and scaly skin: The Light Peel dissolves scales, eliminates flaking, and removes rough patches by encouraging even collagen distribution.
- Age spots, freckles, and other types of skin discoloration: Because the skin cells responsible for creating these blemishes are located within the epidermis, repeated chemical peel treatments can gradually remove them. As a result, the skin becomes more even in tone.
- Fine lines and wrinkles: In addition to removing the damaged skin cells that are responsible for creating fine lines and wrinkles, the Alumier Light Peel can help to prevent the formation of future fine lines. Because collagen is responsible for keeping our skin strong and hydrated, increasing collagen production (as chemical peels do) helps the skin to withstand stress. After a chemical peel, the skin is more elastic and able to “bounce back.” This makes further wrinkle and fine line formation less likely.
What to Expect After Having an Alumier Light Peel
The gentle nature of the Alumier Light Peel means that you will need to have multiple treatments to correct some skin problems (such as acne scarring or age spots). However, because this chemical face peel requires no healing time, it’s highly convenient, making it easy to work more than one appointment into your schedule.
By exfoliating the skin and opening the pores, the Alumier Light Peel primes the skin to absorb skin care products. As such, this treatment pairs nicely with professional renewal serums that are rich in healing antioxidants and vitamins. Ask Dr. Grace and Dr. Tutino for advice on which skincare products to use after having this chemical peel.
