Body Jet Lipo in BurlingtonAlso Serving Oakville and Hamilton

BodyJetLipo1Dr. Douglas Grace is constantly on the lookout for the next greatest advance in cosmetic surgery. He knows that his patients appreciate having multiple options to improve their appearance and enhance their confidence. One of his most exciting recent discoveries is a special type of liposuction technology called Body Jet Lipo, which uses the power of water to remove fat from problem areas. Patients love this treatment because it is gentler on the body while still producing great results.

How Body Jet Lipo Works

Conventional liposuction involves making small incisions in the treatment area and using a hollow tube to loosen fat before it is suctioned or vacuumed from the body. In contrast, Body Jet Lipo water-assisted liposuction involves a less invasive method: using a gentle jet of water to irrigate fat and remove it permanently from the body. Body Jet Lipo may be used to contour multiple areas of the body, including the abdomen, hips, thighs, buttocks and upper arms.

Advantages of Body Jet Lipo

Body Jet Lipo is preferable to conventional liposuction for the following reasons:

  • Less traumatic on the body’s structures (e.g., blood vessels, nerves, surrounding tissues)
  • Does not require as much manual pressure to remove fat
  • Shorter overall treatment
  • Less post-operative pain and bruising
  • Local anesthetic can be used
  • Minimal downtime
  • Rapid recovery
  • Excellent and precise results

What to Expect During Treatment

Patients that are leery of general anesthesia will be pleased to learn that Body Jet Lipo can be performed under local anesthesia. If you would prefer not to be awake during your procedure, general anesthesia can be used.

During the procedure, Dr. Grace will inject a tumescent fluid — which is a mixture of saline, epinephrine and lidocaine — to the treatment area. This fluid helps to reduce discomfort and minimize bleeding. Then, he uses a fan-shaped laminar jet that releases high-pressured water to dislodge fat — separating the fat cells from the surrounding tissues — and then aspirate it from the body.

Recovering from Body Jet LipoBodyJetLipo2

Everyone recovers from Body Jet Lipo differently, but most patients are able to return to work and their normal routine within a few days of the procedure. The treated area may be sore or tender and have mild bruising, but these side effects will quickly subside. Any pain can be managed with prescription medication.

Although it’s recommended that patients rest and relax after the procedure, gentle walking is encouraged to prevent the development of blood clots, especially in the legs. Dr. Grace will follow up with patients to check their healing progress and advise when it is safe to return to daily activities.

In general, Body Jet patients recover more quickly than patients who opt for traditional liposuction.
